The Ane Confederation

This is a look at the Ane Confederation, its star systems, what passes for government there, and the Ane place in the Federation.
Ane possess two million years of recorded history. They orginate from Savanna in the El Nanth system. Ane occupy several worlds in different star systems, including a "native" Earth population, long before the rise of historic human cultures. (The writer reserves the possibility of sophisticated human cultures long before the rise of civilization as we know it. Because it was not preserved, does not mean it didn't exist.) This was accomplished by traveling with earlier star faring races.
At the time of Earth's discovery of the warp drive, no Ane world possessed a star drive of any kind. However, all of them knew about the other Ane worlds. The All is not limited by space

.

El Nanth System

The El Nanth System

The El Nanth system was the largest artifact known in the Federation until the discovery of the Dyson Sphere by the Enterprise D (the Jenolen never reported her find 75 years earlier.) The six worlds orbit the sun in the same orbit equidistant from each other. Five of the worlds are teraformed, only the largest, Savanna, is not teraformed. It is also recorded as the only world in the rosette that was originally in this orbit. Common names for the six worlds are clockwise from Savanna looking down from the solar north; Savanna, Veldt, Aurora, Meadow, Eliyssum, and Glade. The Rosette has an orbit of 3.2 standard Earth years. Axial tilt is only 2 degrees, and the orbit is round. This means that the Rosette has no seasons. Climate runs from tropical to temperate at the poles. The Ane don't live around the poles much, and a great deal of that land is turned over to temperate agriculture. The vast fully automated farms that produce El Nanth's major export labor in an eternal growing season.
According to the Ane the Rosette is a work commissioned 760,000 years before the 24th century in exchange for ideas the Builders had no insight into. The Builders have since been revealed. The UFP has a limited diplomatic relationship with the Builders based at the Three Suns Station, an artificial planet that the Builders call home.
El Nanth is protected by 20 Falcon class cutters, 3 Unity class frigates, and planetary phaser banks. Any number of Starfleet ships may be added to this total depending on what and who is in the space dock.
The last "weapon" is the Sunlens. An asteroid defense system that is activated from an unknown location. The Sunlens is a focused been of solar energy that could melt the best ship any known power could produce with a single shot. However, there is great difficulty in aiming the Sunlens at a target moving at revivalistic speeds on an unpredictable course. Against any ship that can maneuver it isn't a viable option.
The total Ane population at El Nanth is pproximately ten billion. About one million non-Ane are in permanent or semi-permanent residence. The Ane move in herds of varing size. Except for the two cities and the farm areas the rest of the planets are totally natural. No effort is expleded on "improveing" the land. Vast trackless plains broken by seas, lakes, forest bands, and mountians
.        The last item of note is El Nanth weather. The rosette worlds orbit a blue-white sun. the distance from the primary assures that the temperature is within Class M limits. However five times the ultraviolet radiation strikes the surface of El Nanth that does the surface of Earth. Local life is adapted. Ane have tough hide and bright blue mucus membranes. The cornea of their eyes, reflects violet and higher frequency light.
Humanoids must use adaptive technology to survive. The average human left naked under El Nanth would not last a full day. The desert aba, made of a ultraviolet reflecting material, has been adopted as common overdress with anyone leaving cover. Sunscreen in excess of SPF 100 is strongly recommended for anyone leaving the cover of buildings. The Hotels in Crystal city have a dispenser in the shower for sunscreen, as does every home or apartment.
The last weather feature of note is the terminator storms. Due to heavy ionization of the atmosphere during the long days a line of storms will tend to follow the terminator as the planets roll. the storms are not an unbroken line, nor will condition every day produce them. But you can generally count on a two in three chance of rain as evening approachs. All El Nanth worlds share the same weather pattrens.

Savanna is the first and oldest of the El Nanth class M worlds. Ane records indicate it was present before the construction of the rosette, and that Ane have been present on Savanna for 2 million years.
Ane are very restrictive of who is allowed on Savanna. The only non-Ane allowed regular access are the Ansisi people, originally from Earth. Only one settlement of any size has been alowed on the surface, this is the Ansisi city called "Landing Town" or just "Landing". It is a sprawling town that is mostly covered by forest, totally free of roads, and no structure reachs over 3 stories in height. Somewhere under the planet surface is the Memory One Complex. Memory One is one of the largest computer and data complexes in the Federation. The Ane have a public access to this resource on Glade. Memory One is a primary facility in the Federation wide Memory Alpha System, the primary keepers of the Federation database. Memory One is this, and more.
       Savanna has no industry whatsoever.
The moon Kolith has riuns from ancient races dateing back over one million year to as late as fifty thousand years in age.

Aurora is a major industrial mineral producer including dilithium, latinum, gold, diamonds, and the Aurora power crystals. The Ane have not sold any of these to the public, or really explained the "power crystal" label. Aurora also produces its share of garden goods.
All of the Aurora mines are completely underground. No surface works or venting is allowed. Transporters move the produce of the mines to the Aurora Station in orbit. Ships are loaded from here, personnel transported down etc. Security is extremely tight. Except for the line of sight to transporters on the surface, the entire station is transporter shielded.

Meadow -- El Nanth D
       Class: M
       Gravity: 1.005 G

Glade is the capitol of record for the Ane Confederation. All outworlder contact is done through this planet, and its associated station.
Glade is the site of Crystal City. Crystal City was originally built by the El-Aurian people 5000 years ago during the Second Empire period. Much of the original city remains today. Crystal City is the main groundside interface between the Ane and other peoples.
The ministries of other Federation member worlds, or the embassies of non Federation member worlds are located here. Each is allotted an area to build it's complex, or offered an empty, but suitable suite of rooms or structures. In extreme cases the Ane will have a site adapted to fit the special needs of the guests.
Crystal City holds the Memory One University campus. This university while dealing in all subjects specializes in history, considering the resource at hand. Enrollment is limited to 20,000. The Memory One public access facility is adjacent to the campus. This is open to any resident of Glade or visitor to the planet.
Crystal City is also the location for The main offices of Nanotech, producers of the Crystalmind computer systems. The headquarters of the Liggets Spacecraft Company, a producer of small craft (under 5000 tons). The offices of EverFresh Statis Systems, makers of the primary transport method for El Nanth produce. The offices of Waldo & Magic, the primary producers of the heavy Ane bios as well as medical and industrial remote handling systems. Stoner Medical Systems, the producers of the prosthetics style bios. As well as a major supplier of more modern medical marvels. And the main offices of Aurora Mines. Other Interstellar and local companies are also headquartered here, or have major offices.

High Crystal, or Glade Station as it is sometimes called is the primary space port for industrial and personal traffic. The main production facilities for Nanotech, and Waldo & Magic are housed here. The main passenger terminal, and produce station is also at this location.
Security is handled by a dual system installed at the insistance of Security Director Terkos after the "Dumpster Incident". All sensitive areas, station safety operations, power operations, station environmental controls, security stations, and reprocessors are now under constant watch by the station's main computer. This security system consists of common sensors backed by the ancient passive sensors of camera and microphone. These latter two are hooked coaxially to the security stunners (these can be set higher by the computer) what the camera sees, gets shot. 24 security substations around the station supply bases for security personel.
The High Crystal Station itself contains a thriving community of merchants, workers, and transient space-farers. The multi-level promenade of the High Crystal station holds a most interesting collection of goods and services for sale. Due to the laid back nature of the Ane toward what you might do to yourself, things are available here that are restricted or forbidden in the rest of the Federation. However, do not come crying to the authorities if your illicit pleasures bite you. If you stick your nose in it, you are responsible for what happens to your nose.

Builder Station        Builder Station is the last station of note in the system, and it is of note. The Builder Station was built at the time of the construction of the rosette, and has been in its current orbit for the last 760,000 years.
The Builder Station is huge. Even now it is only has a fraction of it's area in use. Whole sections of the station lie unexplored since it was reopened 200 years ago.
Builder station holds the El Nanth Space Dock. This serves as a Starbase for Starfleet and a home port for all Ane military and exploration craft. This station holds the mothball docks for a good number of Starfleet ships, and is capable of building ships of the line on site, or maintaining any ship in the fleet. The principle dock is an enclosed space in vacuum of 4 kilometers by 5 kilometers by 10 kilometers. This dock area is just one of sixty like it in the station at large. Only five of these are in use.
Liggets Spacecraft has their main production facilities at this location. They build ships of the class usually called "free traders" yachts, shuttlecraft, and runabouts. El Nanth Starships also builds the Falcon class cutter at this location. El Nanth is the military ship builder for the Ane. They build no civilian class ships. El Nanth Starships is also the primary supplier of the "Cloptic Torpedo Delivery System." Aurora FTL Systems also has it's primary manufacturing facility on builder station.

The El Nanth system contains no other major planets. An extensive asteroid belt, called "The Grinder", at the equivalent of Neptune's orbit are the only other bodies in the system. None of them is larger than 120 miles in diameter. Astrophysicists believe the rest of the system was cleared to prevent any perturbation of the delicate balance of the rosette. The debris were dumped in the Grinder. There is an old space dog legend that somewhere in the Grinder are the massive tractor ships used to move the planets. It is however, just a legend.

Ecology

The ecology of all the Ane worlds is identical other than a slight differance in gravity.
The most notable thing about the Rosette ecology is the lack of bio-diversity. A careful observer will quickly note what is not there more quickly than what is there. Not found are any carnivores larger than a Terran fox. No herbivores larger than a terran rabbit, other than the Ane themselves, and no carnivorous orthinoids of any size. A full range of invertebrate insectiods is found, other than those with toxins. Orthinoids of small and medium size are found in numbers. Land animals are limited to the scavengers that any ecosystem needs and small herbivores. In no case are any of them big enough to threaten even a newborn Ane. Land animals are found in both mammals and reptiles. Curiously enough, six legs seems to be the standard for both. Sea creatures run the full range of both size and food supply. Ane it has been noted, are not great swimmers.

Law and Government

Ane government is what we would call extremely libertarian in nature. They really have only two laws, and enforce them lightly. The first law being; "Do no harm". The second law; "There is no such thing as an overreaction to force." With the attitude of the second law, people are real careful about the first law. Someone can legally shoot you for minor assault. It will get you talked about and generally shunned in public if you abuse this principle. Ane don't necessarily care, but your non Ane neighbors will. Should they decide that you are better dead for the safety of the community, well the Ane still won't care.
Legalities seldom bother Ane. Their usual method of conflict resolution is to talk it to death. Such a debate might take five minutes or fifty years. No one would even think of resorting to violence. After all, turning to blows defeats your entire argument and essentially admits you were wrong.
No central authority exists whatsoever. Appointments for the such posts as the Federation Council are kicked around until someone decides to do it. Money matters are handled with equal savoir faire. If an Ane wants something, and the money is there, they get it. If the money isn't, they either find a way to make the money or shrug and go back to the grass. Ane funds are both public and private with no distinction made between the two. If you want something you check the account, and if more is needed, you make it. The thought of getting someone else to pay for your desire is totally foreign. The thought of hoarding funds is equally foreign. Any Ane any where has equal access to what might be called the "National Treasury." Many races wonder how they casually handle the matter of free access to trillions of Credits. Ane don't have much of a "mine" bump on their brain is the best answer. Ane moving into general galactic society must learn that others value property. They claim no moral superiority for this trait, it simply is. Ane commonly hire Outsiders to handle the day to day working of their finances.
To deal with more legal minded races Ane hire Outsiders to administer Crystal City, High Crystal, and Builder's station. Ansisi hold the highest positions due to their having a "foot in each camp". A simple and minimal law code regulates commerce and behavior. In that vein liability is strictly personal. El Nanth is the hardest place in the galaxy to sue someone. Conversely it is the easiest place in the Galaxy for criminal behavior to get you killed. Police are not bound by rules of evidence. They can trick you into confessing. They can threaten you with anything they want to, but can in reality do very little outside of having a truth teller at the interrogation. There are no lawyers practicing in the El Nanth system, at least for local law. It is too simple for them to make a living. Personal privacy is valued above law enforcement in most cases. Peace officers cannot enter your home without your permission unless you are shooting at them. (A bad idea, they shoot back.) On the other hand the law is so lenient that there is very little you could do behind closed doors that the police would care about.
If by some stroke of idiot genius you do manage to offend Ane law, and live to be arrested, there is a limited number of responses that will be taken.
Fines; For civil cases and a few criminal cases where bodily harm was not inflicted, fines are imposed. The amount depending on the amount of hurt received and the desire to return damage in like manner. Based on what you have, not a fixed fee.
The Walk; For cases of bodily harm less than death, "the walk" is imposed. The offender is dropped some distance, dependant on the amount of harm, given minimal supplies, and pointed the direction of Crystal City. This is always done on Glade. They then have the choice of life as a primitive hermit, or walking to civilization.
Death; Murder someone and you get the maximum penalty, anonymous death. You are taken out somewhere in the system, no one is even told the planet you will die on, and kicked to death by Ane. Your body is left to the scavengers and the elements. No other record of you will be made.

Association Suns

The Association Suns (Hydrosis System)

The Second major Ane system in the Federation is Association. Also known as Alpha and Beta Hydrosis. Alpha Hydrosis has two class M worlds, Beta Hydrosis has one class L world. There is also a Prime Directive Protectorate sentient race living on a class G world
.        Association is one of the original "founded" Ane worlds before the Federation. It was founded in the 10th interstellar period, and after the construction of the El Nanth rosette. Little was done to Association to prepare it for Ane colonization other than to assure that it housed no indigent sentient life. The evolving sentient life on Nepic was noted, and left alone. The world named Association was far too hot and poisonous to them. They could make no use of it.

The class M and L worlds of the "Association Suns" hold 1.2 billion Ane. The worlds are as follows.

Icarus -- Alpha Hydrosis One
       Class: R
       Gravity: 0.257 G
       Diameter 1000 miles
       Period: 70 days
       Rotation: 720 hours
       Satellites: none
       Life: No known life

Icarus is little more than a melted rock too close to the sun for comfort. The entire surface is baked at temperatures that will melt lead, and most life forms as well. While the mineral content of Icarus is reported to be good, and several mining concerns have opened negotiations to mine the planet over the years, nothing has come of it. The same resources can be had from easier and less expensive places to work.

Sundered -- Alpha Hydrosis Two-1- 24,547
       Class: D
       Gravity: varies
       Diameter: varies
       Period: 140 days (on average)
       Rotation: varies
       Satellites: N/A
Life: No known native life, otherwise astroid miners.

Sundered is what is left of a rocky planet that once orbited here. Long before the arrival of the Ane, Alpha Hydrosis attracted and captured the white dwarf Beta Hydrosis. Sundered paid the price. The planet was destroyed totally. Investigation has shown it was an iron cored world assumed mass about 0.67G. No signs of life have been located among the ruins.
Sundered supports a number of independent stations that support the asteroid miners that scrape a living from the scattered rocks. Of note is the decommissioned starship USS Lovelost a constellation class ship, now called the Captain Lovelost Memorial Station. Her warp drives removed, the ship cum station powers to the most intense area of mining and sets up shop. Trading post, medical help, recreational facility, and shuttle repair all rolled into one. The Station's philosophy is stated plainly in the legend over the crew entrance from the B hanger deck. "You have it, we want it. We have it, you need it. We buy, sell, and trade." The Lovelost is a hard used and abused ship that is no longer deep space worthy. Her systems, other than warp drive, are still functional. The old dog still has teeth, and a bite or two still in her.

Association -- Alpha Hydrosis Three
       Class: M
       Gravity: 0.997 G
       Diameter 7800 miles
       Period: 297 days
       Rotation: 30.3 hours
       Satellites:
               Hare -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.01 G
                      diameter 990 miles
                      period: 7 days
                      rotation: 168 hours
               Tortoise -- class: F
                      gravity: 0.11 G
                      diameter 2990 miles
                      period: 45 days
                      rotation: 55 hours
Life: Vertebrate, complex nervous system, aquatic and terran forms, sentient transplanted
               Ane 80%
               Human 10%
               Other 10%

Association is the second oldest Ane world in the Federation. Association has been an Ane world for over two hundred thousand years.
The climate on Association runs from the super-tropical to temperate at the poles. There are no permanent ice bodies on the planet. Axil tilt is 20 degrees. The super-tropical band is all but unlivable even to the Ane, who like it hot. Vulcans have even been known to mention the heat. The entire equatorial zone is a band of desert with savagely lush jungle to either side. No intelligent creature attempts the desert. If the heat doesn't get you, the haze demons will. Ane are found in the Tropical and sub-tropical bands of the planet, in those areas where terrain and grassland favor them. Such areas are kept free of large predators and what large herbivores as might still exist.
Two major cities are found in the temperate parts of the world. South City in the southern hemisphere, and North City in the northern. All non-Ane population lives in and around these cities, as well as a number of smaller towns around the temperate zones.
Association exports farm goods, Crystalmind computer systems, as well as other light manufacturing and mining products. No major space ports or stations are in this orbit.

Midgard -- Alpha Hydrosis Four
       Class: M
       Gravity: 1.2 G
       Diameter 7900 miles
       Period: 570 days
       Rotation: 26.5 hours
       Satellites:
               Freya -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.01 G
                      diameter 887 miles
                      period: 23 days
                      rotation: 23 hours
               Frey -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.06 G
                      diameter 1159 miles
                      period: 53 days
                      rotation: 39 hours
Life: Vertebrate, complex nervous system, aquatic and terran forms, sentient transplanted
               Human 40%
               Vicharrian 30%
               Ane 20%
               Other 10%

Midgard was first settled by Ane, who really don't like it that much. When a later Human colony group came through they gladly allowed them to settle, under Ane rules. This suited the rowdy nature of the Humans. The Ane didn't even object when the Humans wanted to change the name of the planet. Midgard it became. Midgard is officially a colony under the jurisdiction of Association.
The Midgard climate is colder than Association. It runs from semi tropical to super arctic. The Ane stay mostly in the semi tropical areas.
Because of the cooler climate Midgard is the main point of contact the Ane have with the Vicharrian people. The preference for the cold, and Ane preference for the hot clashing otherwise. They can agree on temperate.
Midgard is the main manufacturing center for Ane/Vicharrian robotic projects. Waldo & Magic is among the many technology companies have offices and facilities either on or in orbit around Midgard. Because of a lack of arable land on Midgard, Association provides most of the agricultural goods for Midgard.
Midgard has a goodly number of cities, towns, and villages, all with mixed populations. It is also rapidly building an orbital presence equal to any developed world in the Federation. None of them is a standout.

Glacier -- Alpha Hydrosis Five
       Class: H
       Gravity: 0.35 G
       Diameter 4560 miles
       Period: 780 days
       Rotation: 22.8 hours
       Satellites: none
Life: single cell, floral and fauna

Glacier would be a class M water world, if it was 100 degrees warmer. It isn't, therefore, it is not. What it is is a world covered in ice with a solid crust under it. In some places the ice sheets are over five miles deep. No liquid water is to be found on the planet. However, life does exist.
What has come to be called "Ice Algae" covers the surface, or rather just under the surface of the endless ice sheets. The algae colors the ice blue, green, and red depending on the species, and keeps the oxygen level unusually high for a otherwise lifeless world. Balancing the algae are the aerobic extreme bacteria that feed on it, producing the carbon dioxide for the algae and feeding on them as well.
Further evidence found in the rock layers under the ice shows that more complex life forms once existed on this planet when the sun was younger and warmer. No evidence of sentient life as been found to date.
Non-native life is limited to scientific stations on and in the ice sheets. In spite of a high oxygen level in the atmosphere, any humanoid caught on the surface of Glacier without the proper protective clothing will be dead in minutes. You can breath it, while your lungs freeze.

Neptic -- Alpha Hydrosis Six (PD Quarantine)
       Class: G
       Gravity: 0.45 G
       Diameter 4700 miles
       Period: 4234 days
       Rotation: 59 hours
       Satellites:
               Nept 1 -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.07 G
                      diameter 1100 miles
                      period: 29 days
                      rotation: 156 hours
Life: Vertebrate, complex nervous system, aquatic and terran forms. Liquid methane, sentient native
               "Neptiod" 100%

Neptic is an extremely cold world. Liquid methane is what passes for water, and life, is abundant. It is however totally incompatible with Humanoid life.
the Neptiods have been present on their world since the Ane first arrived. They have not developed a technology of any sophistication. Waterstone construction is the height of their technology. Forging mercury is a recent development.
The Ane have a number of orbital probes in place to watch the planet, and work on a bio passable under the extreme conditions of the planet is underway. The culture has been under study on and off since the Ane arrived.

Halo -- Alpha Hydrosis Seven
       Class: J
       Gravity: 2.3 G
       Diameter 77,000 miles
       Period: 10,585 days
       Rotation: 14 hours
       Satellites:
               Watchtower -- class: G
                      gravity: 0.15 G
                      diameter 2000 miles
                      period: 42 days
                      rotation: 120 hours
               Sparkle -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.1 G
                      diameter 100 miles
                      period: 70 days
                      rotation: 6 hours
               Halo shell 1-4
               Sentinel -- class: D
                      gravity: 0.01 G
                      diameter 70 miles
                      period: 49 days
                      rotation: 156 hours

       Life: none

Halo is an unusual gas giant. It has a solid core, and most unusual rings, called shells. The atmosphere, is typical of such beasts as Neptune, the shells are made of dust and small rock particles that one would expect to find in a ring. However, the cover the planet almost from pole to pole. Only a small area at each pole is free of the particle belts. Since the arrival of the Ane a degradation of the shells has been noted. It is estimated that in another 100 million years the shells will degrade to common rings.
Rare gas mining is based on the inner of the planet's many small moons. Robot drag rams plunge through the atmosphere gathering the gases.

Tempest is a Jupiter like world in every important respect. It has an even score of moons, one large enough to provide a decent doomed base for scientific study. The planet's weather is the primary reason for its name. Tempest also has a sizable ring system.
Tempest has life in abundance. High altitude life that lives forever on the winds and currents of the atmosphere of the gas giant. These aerial creatures are both tough, and fragile. They can withstand the mach-speed winds of Tempest, but would crumble at the touch of a Humanoid hand, so fragile is the structure. Some of these creatures are miles across, yet possess the density of a soap bubble. Nothing here is even close to intelligent.

Hell -- Alpha Hydrosis Nine
       Class: brown dwarf
       Gravity: 6 G
       Diameter 1,797,000 miles
       Period: 33,580 days
       Rotation: 13.6 hours
       Satellites: none
       Life: None

Hell is as close as a planet can get to being a failed star, and not ignite. Hell, is constantly erupting and spewing matter from it's surface. No moon has lasted, rings cannot exist, even bands of weather so common on gas giants are absent from this turbulent world. It has a surface of rolling browns and glowing reds that boils visibly as you watch. A planet that rages against the "injustice" that it was not good enough to star.

Beta Hydrosis

Beta Hydrosis is a White Dwarf star that Alpha Hydrosis captured in the distant past. The surface of all the rocky planets dates from that event, and one world, Sundered, was utterly destroyed by the event. Beta Hydrosis is an unremarkable white dwarf, it has one class L planet, doubtless captured from Alpha Hydrosis during the event.

Nemesis -- Beta Hydrosis One
       Class: L
       Gravity: 0.66 G
       Diameter 5490 miles
       Period: 190 days
       Rotation: 4000.5 hours
       Satellites: none
       Life: primitive multicelled, sentient transplants

Nemesis is a dark and cold world that is barely livable. It is on the edge of the system, and truly out of the way. This makes it perfect for the task of a major starbase. This is the task to which it is put. Nemesis is the home of Starbase 311.
Native life on this small cold world tends to be slow moving and reclusive. It pretty much gets left alone. This is hardly a vacation posting. The fact that Association and Midgard are hours away by warp shuttle is the only thing that makes the posting bearable.

Felicity System

The Felicity system also called the "Partha system", after the discoverer of the one Class M world in the system. The Partha system is a triple star system. It is unusual for triple stars to have class M worlds, so the system was overlooked in the initial star surveys of the region. Ralph Partha an early 22nd century independent planet surveyor took the unlikely system as his first job. It was also his last job. The finder fee paid by the Ane for rights to the system set him up for life.
The three stars are Alpha Partha, a blue giant star, Beta Partha, a red dwarf, and Gamma Partha, a yellow dwarf (G3) in a far orbit of the first pair. It is around this sun that Felicity is located. Felicity is the newest Ane settlement in the Federation, and the only one settled in Federation historic times. It is important for, if nothing else, evidence of how the Ane move into a star system and make a world their own.

Alpha-Beta Partha

This dual sun consists of a Blue-white giant and a red dwarf. Alpha Partha is a blue-white giant on the standard scale, it is a B3 star.
Beta Partha orbits Alpha Partha with a period of Forty days, and at right angles to the planetary elliptic. This small companion star is slowly being sucked into the larger by a trail a material that connects the two. At irregular intervals Beta Partha sheds a shell of gas, 90% of which is sucked back into Alpha Partha. Beta Partha is an ovoid shape due to the tremendous tidal forces exerted on the star.

       Life: none

Marble is a giant Jupiter style planet. It is very hot and very active. It's proximity to the solar pair makes even investigating it difficult. It has no known life or commercial value.

Granite -- Alpha Partha Two
       Class: K
       Gravity: 1.6 G
       Diameter 8200 miles
       Period: 689.1 days
       Rotation: 54 hours
       Satellites: none
       Life: Single-cell extreme fanua

Granite is your basic rock. It is blasted and barren. It has a thick and deadly atmosphere of sulphurous compounds. In short, a mid-gravity poisonous high pressure planet. Doubtless minerals are present on this hot ball of rock, but conditions are not favorable even for an underground mining facility. The gravity level is just high enough to be uncomfortable for most humanoids. The desired resources are easier to get in other places.
Life surprisingly does exist on this planet. Sulphur digesting microbes exist in numbers in the boiling acidic pools that pass for lakes on this planet. The mats are sometimes as much as three feet thick.

Diamond -- Alpha Partha Three
       Class: M*
       Gravity: 0.87 G
       Diameter 7402 miles
       Period: 3577.1 days
       Rotation: 30.6 hours
       Satellites: none
Life: aquatic complex multi-cellular forms, neural nets, central nervous systems, invertebrate. Terran simple plants, extreme microbes.

Diamond is class M by the skin of its teeth. It is far too marginal to colonize. It does have life in the oceans, and a hard-scrabble lichen and algae type of life on land. However most of the surface is arid and covered in crystallized carbon. Yep, crystallized carbon. The entire planet is covered in diamond pebbles, diamond sand, and diamond dust. To begin with every other prospector in existence thought Diamond was a free ride. After enough of them paid the price for trying, the raids stopped. Diamond has no ozone barrier, massive amounts of ultraviolet and sometimes hard radiation pound the planet daily. Stepping out onto Diamond's surface, with its seeming breathable and friendly atmosphere can be a death sentence. A slow painful death sentence.
The Ane keep minimal security and mine the planet for a source of industrial grade diamond cheaper than replication. The occasional gem quality stone is also found. The Felicity gem museum has the most spectacular examples, including the largest known natural cut diamond in the Federation. "The Rock" weights in at an incredible 106,137 carets. It is brilliant cut and exhibits no bare-eye visible flaws, and only two inclusions of visible size. The fire is quite brilliant, and it is a popular sight for visitors.

Gamma Partha

Gamma Partha is a yellow dwarf star (G2) in a long orbit around the alpha-beta pair. It has a period of 257 years, and three planets of its own.

Missedit -- Gamma Partha One
       Class: F
       Gravity: 0.6 G
       Diameter 4670 miles
       Period: 88 days
       Rotation: 2112 hours
       Satellites: none
       Life: none

Missedit is a hot ball of rock. It has no atmosphere and is only notable for the fact that it almost killed Ralph Partha before he discovered anything. His rather faulty sensors didn't tell him about the planet in his path and he learned about the third star in the triad by barely missing collision with Gamma Partha One as he came out of warp. "Missed it." He said, and Missedit it became. The planet has no other redeeming qualities.

Felicity -- Gamma Partha Two
       Class: M
       Gravity: 0.98 G
       Diameter 7860 miles
       Period: 350.2 days
       Rotation: 26.1 hours
       Satellites:
               Selen -- class: F
                      gravity: 0.163 G
                      diameter 3060 miles
                      period: 33 days
                      rotation: 792 hours
Life: Vertebrate, complex nervous system, aquatic and terran forms. Sentient transplant.
               Ane 50%
               Other 50%

Felicity is the most recently settled Ane world in the Federation. The Ane have been here only since the mid 22nd century. It is also the most cosmopolitan of the Ane systems. The one decent planet having to serve all.
Felicity is an almost duplicite of Earth, only slightly hotter. It has the large moon, and the 70% water surface. Ane have occupied every corner they reasonably can here. It is the only planet where the Ane migrate from seasonal pasture grounds as the seasons change.
As typical of the Ane since their settlement their has been both a drop in the numbers of the large predators, and a like drop in the large herbivores that compete with Ane. There have been protests over their altering the natural ecology of the planet. The protests have fallen on deaf ears. The local government is the Ane, and they like the changes, and the Federation has no jurisdiction over the local polices. The Greens have lost this one, but are slow to admit it.
Felicity has a number of large cities. Harmony is the largest and the capital of the planet and the system. Harmony is a series of archologies that hold 70% of the non-Ane population of the planet. Extensive farming belts in the nearby mountains provide for the city's needs. Every effort has been made to provide arable land in areas Ane do not favor to leave more open land for the landlords.
Harmony is a manufacturing and business center. Offices for the Kimberless Diamond Mining Company, Nanotech, Waldo & Magic, Stoner Medical Systems, El Nanth Starships, and Korlis Drives are found here, as well as hundreds of local and small companies.
Felicity is also the location of Memory Two. A duplicate of the Savanna Memory One complex in every respect. Memory Two University is located in the Old Towers section of Harmony.
Felicity has one moon, Selen. It has nearly the same mass ratio as the earth/moon pair in the sol system. Selen is the site of the Felicity Space Dock. Both orbital and ground facilities exist.
What Selen has that makes building starships here a good idea is massive veins of trititanium. Dilithium is also found in quantity on several of the systems rocky worlds. As a result the Felicity Space Dock is becoming a major builder of starships.

Carnival is the Christmas ornament planet. It has colorful bands of weather, rings that thrill, even life. For a big planet it has it all. Carousel has a base for the study of the life found in class J worlds. The Carnival types seen a little brighter than most.

Sol System (Earth)

There is more than enough published information on Earth proper. The Ane presence is limited to about 100,000 individuals located on traditional Ansisi lands in the Bantu Traditional Province of the United State of Africa

Ane in the Federation

Ane are likely the only working anarchy in the Federation. They don't practice politics, have "leaders", or seek power. It is said that the Ane delegation to the Federation Council can "change during a cocktail party". While the Ane are active in debate, no Ane has ever served as the Federation Council President, in spite of the charter status of the race. Past Presidents have learned to deal with the changing faces, yes, even in the middle of an issue. Because the Ane don't deal in rank, every member of the delegation will at one time or another take the councilor's seat. This has a tendency to drive more orderly minded races, like the Andorians, to frenzied distraction.
The Ane habit of feeling an overwhelming urge to deflate over inflated egos also gets into the path of diplomacy. They really have to resist tossing an entire agreement out the door for a good joke. Reason doesn't always win the argument.
Some would argue that Ane see politics as another game, and are not truly interested in studying the rules, but want to play none the less. However, for every generalization made about Ane, one or more will disprove you. Ane will take up the most unlikely professions just to learn about them, or even for the hell of it. As said, very distracting to the orderly minded.
All told, while the Ane do participate in the galactic society they do not have the impact than their numbers might suggest. Most Ane cannot be bothered, and those that can be bothered generally have other things on their minds.

Other Ane Worlds in the Confederation.

The Worlds of the Federation are not the only Ane worlds in existence. All Ane worlds and their population totals are listed below.
The Ane consdier that every one of their worlds is part of the United Federation of Planets.

United Federation of Planets -- 12 Billion Node One
       1: El Nanth
              Savanna -- 1.6 billion
              Veldt -- 1.6 billion
              Aurora -- 1.6 billion
              Meadow, -- 1.6 billion
              Eliyssum -- 1.6 billion
              Glade -- 1.6 billion
       2: Assocation Suns
              Association -- 1.6 billion
              Midguard -- 250 million
       3: Partha System
              Felcity -- 500 million
       4: Sol System
              Earth -- 20,000
Notes: The UFP contains the Ane home system, its oldest colony, and it's second youngest. The UFP has brough a change in the way the Ane do business with the galaxy at large. they are no longer passive and waiting things to happen, but are reaching out for the first time in 2 million years.
The Federation is on the cusp of diSodium technology.

The Heptpat Alliance -- 3 billion Node Two
       Primus 1.5 billion
       Secondus 1.5 billion
Notes: The two Ane worlds are in one system and date from the time of the Builders. They are 90 light years spinward of the Three Suns station. The Great Aliance consists of seven members of differing races, Ane includined. It is built on the Federation model and is 50 years of age.
The Great Allaince are driving warp 5 technology.

Caladan Empire -- 5 billion Node Three
       Accord -- 1.6 billion
       Concord -- 1.6 billion
       Solace -- 1.6 billion
Notes: The gentle Calad do not conduct an empire so much as a symposium. The Ane are welcome participants in the symphony. The Calad are aggressively pacifistic, and so are you. Unlike the Ane they are willing to use Telepathy to see that you do not harm your neighbor. Unlike the Zodani they do not care what you think, as long as you do not act.
The Ane have objected to the use of Telepathy to curb the violent. The Calad prefer this to killing the being. The discussion continues.
The Caladan Empire is at warp 8 technology.

Acceptian Empire -- 900 million Node Four
       Harmony -- 900 million
Notes: Harmony was founded before the Acceptians. The Acceptian moved in and declared themselves rulers. The Ane have made it as tough as possible. The Acceptians have gained not a millicredit of gain from the planet. It is known throughont the Empire as a money pit that no family wants.
Hamony is also saddled with a sizeable Truul population. Early after discoverying the Truul the Ane tried to rehabilitate this unfoutunate race to a free will status, they failed. Several million Trull live on Harmony being kindly treated and doing little things for the Ane.
The Acceptian Empire is on the cusp of warp 8 technology.

Oz Node -- 1 billion Node Five
       Oz: 1 billion (90% Aneilog)
Kansas -- 100,000 (About half Aneilog)
Notes: Oz is one of the youngest Ane world, and consdiered the least fortunante. The Ane of Oz were forcably altetred into humaniods by the Rishians. This cut them off from the Express. They have only recently regained physical contact. ther All is making the best use possible of the situation and the Aneilogs, as they are called, are being exported throughout the Ane Conferderation. Ane are also movign to Oz in consierable number to make sure the Express is not broken again.
       Oz has Federation technology.

Grand Alliance Worlds -- 5 billion Node Six
       Lea -- 1.2
       Clover -- 1.1
       Trilla -- 1.3
Worlds of heavily mixed population -- 1.4 billion
Notes: The Grand Alliance is an Empire of 250 worlds, it is currently some 500 years old.
The Alliance has embraced the Ane and is the only place where Ane are employed doing what they do best, communication. Alliance communications would fall apart without the Ane. 1.4 billion are so employed at any time with the number increasing. Should the Alliance suddenly decide not to use Ane they would have a hard time absorbing the population.
The Alliance has been informed about the UFP and the Ane membership. They have noted this and consder it acedemic as it would take a ship nearly 9,000 years to reach the Federation.
The Alliance has sceeded two class M planets to the Ane in addition to the one they found them on.
